Uno de los objetivos de 452ºF es ofrecer, junto a los monográficos, una selección bibliográfica correspondiente al tema del que nos ocupamos en cada entrega. Sin embargo, es bien conocido que existe una cantidad ingente de textos relativos a la obra de Poe y que, por lo tanto, una tarea que se ocupe de reunirlos y clasificarlos sobrepasa las capacidades de nuestra revista. Creemos que esta empresa más bien debe ser desempeñada por un conjunto de especialistas en la obra o un grupo de estudios, con una dedicación completa y unos medios de los que nuestra revista carece.

De hecho, ya existe un grupo de esas características, la Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore, en cuya web (http://www.eapoe.org/) podemos encontrar, entre otros servicios, bibliografías temáticas sobre diversos aspectos del escritor bostoniano. Así que, cuando nos propusimos elaborar la mencionada bibliografía, decidimos que no podíamos prescindir del trabajo de nuestros colegas, más cuando uno de los propósitos de nuestra revista es fomentar el trabajo entre estudiosos de la literatura de distintas procedencias, aprovechando las ventajas que nos ofrecen los nuevos medios de comunicación.

Finalmente, decidimos restringir las ambiciones de nuestra bibliografía en pos de la rigurosidad. Nos limitamos a citar aquellas referencias fundamentales sobre los tres principales temas que conforman nuestro primer monográfico: Poe y la Ciencia Ficción, Las relaciones de Poe con la ciencia y El Humor en la obra de Poe. Sin embargo, al menos para el primer y el tercer tema, ya existen sendas bibliografías en la web de la Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore, por lo que decidimos partir de su trabajo y complementarlo con aquellas obras que o bien aún no han detectado o bien aún no han actualizado.

Así pues, aprovechamos para felicitar a la Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore por su labor y desear que, como mínimo, nuestra pequeña contribución bibliográfica ayude a la titánica tarea de reunir, clasificar y sistematizar toda la producción crítica sobre Edgar Allan Poe.
